How to make an AI of someone
This is one of the most-searched questions in the category and most answers are either science fiction or a sales page. Here is what actually works today, including the parts that should give you pause.
How do you make an AI of someone?
You need text that person actually wrote. Collect a conversation history, feed it to a system that extracts their writing patterns, and chat with the result. With a WhatsApp export this takes a few minutes; the honest constraint is consent and how much history you have.

Step 1 — gather real writing, not a description
The single biggest determinant of whether the result feels like the person is the source material. Descriptions do not work; people cannot articulate their own or anyone else's typing habits accurately.
A WhatsApp conversation is usually the richest source most people already have: it spans years, covers ordinary and emotional moments, and contains both sides so the system can see how the person responded to things rather than just what they said.
Step 2 — export the conversation
In WhatsApp, open the chat, tap the contact name, scroll to Export chat, and choose Without media. You get a .txt file (or a .zip on some devices). Media is not needed and makes the file far larger.
- iPhone: chat → contact name → Export Chat → Without Media.
- Android: chat → ⋮ → More → Export chat → Without media.
- Keep the file — it is the raw material, and you may want to re-import a longer version later.
Step 3 — build the persona
Upload the file, choose which participant you want, and let the system read the conversation. What it extracts is a style profile: message length, vocabulary, punctuation, emoji habits, how they open and close, recurring topics, and the things they characteristically say.

Step 4 — check it honestly
Read the first ten replies with a critical eye. If it sounds like a generic assistant wearing a name tag, the export was probably too short or the wrong person was selected. Adding more history is the usual fix.
The consent question, which is not optional
Making an AI of a living person without their knowledge is the line this product does not cross. Neverfar requires uploaders to attest they have the right to use the chat, and prohibits impersonation, harassment and sexual content.
For someone who has died, the messages in your own chat history are generally yours to read, but publishing the output or using someone's likeness commercially raises separate legal questions in most jurisdictions.

Can I make an AI of someone who died?
Yes, and it is the most common reason people do this. You need chat history you already have. It produces a written keepsake — replies in their style, built from their own words. It is not the person, and it should never claim to be.
Can I make an AI of someone without their permission?
You should not, and on Neverfar you may not. Uploaders must attest they have the right to use the chat, and impersonating a living person is prohibited. Beyond the policy, it is the kind of thing that ends badly for everyone involved.
Do I need coding skills to make an AI of someone?
No. The chat-export route is a file upload and a couple of clicks. Building one yourself from scratch would mean parsing the export, extracting a style profile and prompting a model — doable, but not necessary for the result most people want.
What if I only have a short chat history?
You will still get something, but it will be thin — recognisable phrases without the deeper rhythm. If you have several conversations with the same person, export the longest one, and re-import later if you find more.
Can it use voice recordings?
